Resources to stay on track for a successful 2026-2027 academic year
As the end of the semester approaches, the Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs is here to help students stay on track and plan for the upcoming academic year. Taking proactive steps now will pay off in the future.
If students have not already met with their academic advisors, now is the time to do so. Advisors help students establish academic and career goals and guide them through courses and activities to help them achieve those goals. Students are required to meet with their advisor once per semester. Online tools are available to help students make the most of their appointments.
If students are unsure about their major or considering a change, Exploratory Advisors are here to help. Students can schedule an appointment for major and career exploration to match their career goals and interests, finding a major that is right for them. Appointments or drop-in times are available in the Pre-Professional and Exploratory Advising Center.
On-demand success tools are available to help students navigate academic life at K-State. Available through the Academic Achievement Center, these tools aid in final preparation, combat procrastination, enhance study skills, and more. Visit k-state.edu/aac to access all tools.
Students are also encouraged to begin making living arrangements for the next academic year. Review on-campus living options at housing.k-state.edu and save the date for the Housing Contract Webinar at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2. Returning students are highly encouraged to join the webinar as the contract process looks completely different for the next academic year.
For those living off-campus, receive assistance in reviewing and understanding lease agreements and tenants' rights and responsibilities through help from Student Legal Services or Off-Campus Housing Support. Students who are members of a fraternity or sorority and wish to live in their chapter's housing should secure a space now. Fraternity and Sorority Life is available to help students navigate the process.
Free peer financial counseling, available to all students through Powercat Financial, helps students plan. Students can meet with a financial counselor to discuss topics such as paying for school, building a budget, or transitioning to a new career. By scheduling meetings early, students can make informed decisions regarding financial aid, housing costs, and balancing competing expenses before the next academic year begins.
Finally, the 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid is now available. K-State's priority application date is Dec.1, and all students, except international students, are encouraged to apply. The university has multiple resources available to help students navigate the process, including answers to frequently asked questions, financial aid field guides, and financial aid advisors.
