Academic Advising for Students

Academic advising is one of the more important activities we engage in at Kansas State University. Through advising, we help students establish their academic and career goals and then guide them through the courses and activities that will enable them to accomplish these goals.

Your advisor is there to help, answer questions, and guide you successfully through college.

How your Advisor can help you!

You're in the driver's seat, so think of your advisor as your co-pilot who is there to help you stay on course. Your advisor will help you:

  • enroll in courses
  • map out a plan of action
  • develop critical thinking skills
  • make decisions regarding your academic career at K-State

Academic Advisors can help answer questions you may have about classes, majors, course permissions, tutoring, and how to get involved on campus. Additionally, working with your advisor may help you avoid mistakes like: taking classes you don't need, missing a class that might not be offered for another year or more, or accidentally missing a pre-requisite for a required course.
