24/7 Mental Health Support
Get immediate access to mental health services.
Kansas State University has partnered with Central Kansas Mental Health Center (CKMHC) to offer 24/7 access to mental health support. This service replaces the previous provider, TELUS Health.
CKMHC provides free and immediate access to mental health services, including:
- assessments.
- recovery and wellness specialists.
- and licensed therapists.

In addition to CKMHC, Lafene CAPS continues to provide short-term individual therapy as well as skills groups and workshops. You can schedule an initial consultation within 48 hours of appointment time through the If you cannot find an appointment time that works for you through the portal, please call 785-532-6927, and we'll get you scheduled. You can also walk in to schedule an appointment. If you are in crisis, please come into CAPS and let our front desk know that you are in urgent need of speaking to a counselor.

Connecting with CKMHC is easy. Simply call 785-515-6143, and you'll be connected with Center staff.

What if it’s a crisis?

What if I need more support?
The CKMHC provider you speak with can help you identify resources for ongoing care. CKMHC may refer you to Lafene CAPS or various community-based resources in your area that are suited to support your needs. Mental health services are free for students through Lafene CAPS.
Can I use CKMHC if I am in treatment with a mental health provider, either through Lafene CAPS or elsewhere in the community?
Yes. Any eligible K-State student may access Central Kansas Mental Health Center, regardless of whether or not you may be in treatment elsewhere.
Is there a limit to the number of times I can access this support?
No. Over the course of an academic cycle, it is common for a student to reach out multiple times looking for support on a variety of issues.
Is it confidential?
Yes. The information you share will be confidential, except in instances where there is a concern for your immediate safety. Your contact information will be shared for follow-up care, per your consent.

Lafene CAPS continues to provide short-term psychotherapy as well as offering consultation and referral to ongoing treatment providers in the community.
