Open enrollment in October, K-State Benefits Fair and Flu Shot Clinic through Lafene

Submitted by HCS Benefits

October marks the open enrollment period for K-State faculty and staff to choose their health care plan for the coming year.

During the month, benefits-eligible employees will need to log into their State Employee Health Plan MAP portal to elect health insurance and other supplemental benefits plans for 2022. Employees will also be able to elect optional group life insurance through KPERS in October.

Due to uncertainty caused by the spread of the delta variant, this year's Benefits Fair is moving to a virtual format. Throughout the first two weeks of October, state and K-State benefit vendors have been invited to present workshops on the various benefits offered to K-State employees. These include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, Delta Dental, Avesis, MetLife, The Hartford, CVS Caremark and presentations on Medicare Basics. Most vendors have agreed to morning and afternoon time slots to provide attendance and availability options. We will also provide access to on-demand materials from the state of Kansas through the SEHP. Keep an eye on K-State Today as more announcements on this year's Benefits Fair will be made soon.

A popular component of the Benefits Fair is the flu shot clinic offered in partnership with the Lafene Health Center. This year, Lafene will offer onsite Flu Shot Clinics on Oct. 5 at the College of Veterinary Medicine and on Oct. 8 at the Recreation Complex — which will also feature COVID vaccinations. Additional details will be provided in upcoming K-State Today articles. Both events are available to all active students, faculty and staff. Unable to make it to this year's clinic? An appointment for a flu or COVID vaccination at Lafene Health Center can be made on the myLafene+ patient portal or by calling Lafene Health Center at 785-532-6544.

As in previous years, all employees are required to re-enroll in the health plan of their choice for 2022. Further details will be released soon pertaining to changes made by the SEHP for the 2022 calendar year.
