Linder named executive director for program development at K-State Global Campus

Submitted by Grant Guggisberg

Katie Linder has been named executive director for program development at Kansas State University Global Campus.

In this role, Linder is tasked with developing new, market-driven online academic programs that position Global Campus for sustainable enrollment growth, as well as transforming existing programs to do the same. Global Campus' portfolio includes courses, micro-credentials and degree programs, as well as noncredit and professional development programming.

"We are excited for Katie to be joining the Global Campus leadership team," said Karen Pedersen, dean of Global Campus. "She brings an incredible background with expertise in faculty development, instructional design and research. Her unique mix of experience and her vision for the position will enable her to work with administrators and faculty across the university to expand quality digital learning opportunities for K-State."

Before joining Global Campus, Linder served as director of the Oregon State University Ecampus research unit. Her previous work has focused on topics such as blended course design best practices, institutional supports for accessible online learning, and research literacy for scholarship of teaching and learning practitioners and distance education stakeholders. Her most recent published books include "The Business of Innovating Online," Stylus, 2019; and "Going Alt-Ac: A Guide to Alternative Academic Careers," Stylus, 2020, published in January.

Linder previously directed the Center for Teaching and Scholarly Excellence at Suffolk University in Boston and is also an associate certified coach through the International Coach Federation.

Linder earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington, and a master's and a doctorate in women's, gender, and sexuality studies from Ohio State University.

Linder will join the K-State Global Campus staff on Feb. 3.
