SGA to host student body presidential debates on Monday

Submitted by Nathan Bothwell

The annual student body presidential debates will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, in the K-State Student Union courtyard.

Each year, Student Governing Association hosts a public debate where candidates for the office of student body president can present their platforms and take questions from students. Each candidate will have time to present an opening and closing statement, while also answering questions from moderators. There will be additional time for candidates to answer questions from the crowd. This year's debate is being moderated by representatives from the Collegian and KSDB.

The student body presidential debate is the first of multiple events happening during SGA Week. Every day on Feb. 3-7, SGA will host a signature event to encourage engagement with student government and to encourage students to file to run for Student Senate and other SGA positions.

The deadline to file for Student Senate is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. The filing application can be accessed on the SGA Election website. Questions about SGA elections can be directed to Hayley Spellman, elections commissioner, at hds2015@k-state.edu
