The spring semester brings new opportunities to collaborate with cross-campus departments and the Center for Advocacy, Response & Education, or CARE, would like you to consider hosting a CARE workshop to your class or group organization.

CARE provides confidential, free and voluntary services and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence, dating violence, stalking and sexual harassment. CARE survivor advocates are available to assist survivors in understanding and navigating university policies and procedures, and helps promote the academic success and personal wellness of survivors. Crisis intervention, safety planning, explaining various reporting options available to survivors, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, assisting with academic accommodations, and providing additional information and referral are services a CARE survivor advocate can assist with. CARE also recognizes the importance of mental health and well-being of survivors and believes that the financial standing of a survivor should not be a hindrance to the healing process. In light of this, CARE has a Healing Fund and additional details can be found online

CARE workshops include:

  • CARE 101
  • Consent 101
  • The Reality of Sexual Violence
  • The Reality of Relationship Violence
  • Healthy Relationship and Boundaries
  • Trauma-Informed Support Services for Educators
  • Workplace Harassment
  • Drug-facilitated Sexual Violence

CARE also leads Wildcats Make a Pact, an evidence-based 90-minute bystander intervention training that provides participants with the skills to help them intervene safely when they see behavior that puts others at risk for violence, victimization, or perpetration. This includes speaking out against rape myths and sexist language, supporting victims/survivors, and intervening in potentially violent situations. More details can be found online. Finally, CARE can develop workshops and presentations that are molded to fit your needs.

To schedule an appointment with a survivor advocate, contact CARE at 785-532-6444 or ksucare@k-state.edu. To find out more information regarding workshops or request a presentation, contact Jessica Henault, CARE's prevention specialist at 785-532-6444 or at jhenault@k-state.edu. You can also visit the CARE office to make an appointment or acquire more information, CARE is located in 206 Holton Hall and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. As always, we appreciate all the help the Wildcat community does to continue making K-State's campus safer, more equitable and more accessible.
