The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) announced this week that they will extend the guidance originally issued in March 2020 for the 2022-23 academic year.
2022-2023 Academic Year (Fall 2022-Spring 2023)
Enrollment Guidance
F-1 students enrolled and in valid status on March 9, 2020 at K-State (including ELP students) and who have continued to maintain their status since.
You may enroll in any combination of hybrid/on-line/in-person classes. (For example, all classes on-line is fine.) You must maintain full time status or have an approved reduced course load (RCL) to maintain an active F-1 SEVIS record. Even if you are outside the U.S., we can maintain your SEVIS record as long as you continue to enroll in a full-course of study online.
If you are outside the U.S. and want to enroll in less than a full-time course of study and do not meet exemptions for full-time to be approved for an RCL, contact your ISSS advisor. Your advisor will assist you to end your SEVIS record. If you plan to return to K-State in the future, you should contact your ISSS advisor for more guidance four months in advance.
Full-time study definitions are located here: https://www.k-state.edu/isss/students/f1/enrollment.html
F-1 students enrolled and in valid status after March 9, 2020 at K-State (including ELP students)
You cannot enroll in a full course of study that is 100% online. At least one course (at least 1 credit) must be face-to-face or hybrid.
F-1 Transfer students outside the U.S. in Initial SEVIS Status planning to return (or have already returned) to the U.S.
You cannot enroll in a full course of study that is 100% online. At least one course (at least 1 credit) must be face-to-face or hybrid.
F-1 Transfer students outside the U.S. in Initial SEVIS Status not planning to return to the U.S.
You are permitted to enroll in any number of online courses. However, your SEVIS record will not be maintained in Active status. Please email isss@ksu.edu to notify us you will not be physically present for Fall 2022 or Spring 2023. You will also need to notify ISSS approximately 4 months in advance of your plans to return to the U.S. to enroll full-time at K-State.
F-1 Transfer students inside the U.S.
You may enroll in any combination of hybrid/on-line/in-person classes. You must maintain full time status or have an approved reduced course load.
Brand New F-1and J-1 students (in the U.S.) for Fall 2022 or Spring 2023
You cannot enroll in a full course of study that is 100% online. At least one course (at least 1 credit) must be face-to-face or hybrid.
J-1 degree-seeking university students (under K-State Program Sponsorship) who have been enrolled and in “active” SEVIS since March 2020
You may enroll in any combination of hybrid/on-line/in-person classes. (For example, all classes on-line is fine.) You must maintain full time status or have an approved reduced course load.
*For ALL those in F-1 or J-1 status in the U.S.*
If we switch from traditional in-person/hybrid instruction to fully online instruction for the 2022-2023 academic year, all students in F-1 or J-1 status may remain in the United States and maintain their status.
Will my health insurance cover any COVID-19 costs?
