Due to a technical issue, the Graduate School has been delayed in completing final testing of all electronic forms that will go give in SoftDocs/Etrieve, K-State’s new enterprise electronic forms and workflow solution. The Division of Information Technology is working with the technical support team at SoftDocs/Etrieve to resolve the issue and we hope to complete our testing this week after we receive confirmation that the issue has been resolved. After testing is completed, training will be offered live via Zoom and a recording will be available after the training is held. The Graduate School will include training session information in the weekly bulletin and we will send a separate email notification to department heads, graduate program directors and support staff.

An overview of the SoftDocs/Etrieve product is available at:

On March 29-31, Dean Petrescu, Dr. Young, and Dr. Miller attended the annual Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) meeting in Chicago. We would like to share a few highlights of the meeting.

    • From presentations by other MAGS institutions, we learned about trends in graduate education and graduate student needs that will help guide our strategic planning for graduate education at K-State. Information shared by other graduate schools, as well as by exhibitors (e.g., ETS, Beyond the Professoriate, Liaison), reinforced the value of data-informed decision making. Other themes of the meeting included the need for enhancing training and mentoring to support graduate student career-readiness for diverse career paths, developing a holistic admission process, and developing comprehensive/holistic admission and student services to help the whole student thrive in graduate school and beyond.
    • 3MT competition – Abigail Kreznor, PhD student in Chemistry, represented K-State at the MAGS 3MT competition on March 31. While Abigail did not win an award, she was one of 10 finalists selected from a pool of over 50! She did an outstanding job presenting her research and representing K-State.
    • Award for Excellence in Innovation in Graduate Education – The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign was the winner of this year’s award for their development of GradMAP, an innovative program comprised of a suite of resources that provide new graduate students with a comprehensive first-year experience.

  • Application Processing

Application Processing: The Graduate School is working hard to process applications as quickly as possible. For international applications, please be sure to indicate if you are providing funds (an assistantship) and provide the assistantship form when completing the program recommendation on the decision tab. Please use the latest version of the form. This reduces the time to process an application.

If you would like to participate or have any questions about this semester's open houses, please contact, Sarah Tortella, Director of Graduate Recruitment at stortella@ksu.edu.
