10 funds you can support on K-State Day of Giving

On April 9, Kansas State University unites Wildcats for K-State Day of Giving, a 24-hour celebration of community, passion and purpose. This occasion invites alumni, students, faculty and friends to come together and invest in the causes that matter most to them, from scholarships and research to campus initiatives that support student success.

No matter your interests, there’s a meaningful way for you to make a lasting impact and help shape the future of K-State.

Below are 10 examples of the many initiatives you can support on April 9.

Invest bug bucks for the Insect Zoo

Locals and visitors alike love the K-State Insect Zoo. The zoo offers an interactive experience for visitors, showcasing the sights, sounds and smells of live creepy crawlies, including giant cockroaches, beetles, giant walking and prickly sticks, praying mantises, centipedes, scorpions, tarantulas and more.

Supporting the Insect Zoo allows for increased interaction through more staff, webcams and additional scholarship opportunities for school field trips.

Support the Pride of Wildcat Land

The Kansas State University Marching Band, known as the Pride of Wildcat Land, brings boundless spirit and energy to our campus and beyond. While its performances are a crucial part of the game day experience, the band’s ability to teach its musicians about the value of persistence, humility and community will last a lifetime. Make a difference for the marching band and invest in the talent and teamwork that represent our university with passion and dedication.

Celebrate 150 years of the K-State Gardens

The Kansas State University Gardens offer a serene haven where the university community and visitors from near and far can experience beauty, peace and joy. As the gardens celebrate their 150th anniversary, it's the perfect time to support garden development, student interns and the ongoing maintenance of this university gem.

Help Wildcat athletes meet peak performance

When asked about the unique challenges faced by K-State student-athletes, Anne Weese, director of sport psychology at K-State Athletics, said it all comes down to one word — pressure.

From physical therapy and conditioning to performance meals and fueling stations to mental health treatment and a biofeedback/performance lab, K-State student-athletes deserve the best to keep their whole selves healthy. Your investment provides them with scholarships, academic advising, counseling services and access to specialized learning resources.

Champion scholarships for student teachers

After mastering the subject matter and polishing teaching skills, every K-State education major brings it all together during a student teaching semester. It's a pivotal moment when future teachers grasp their greatness.

It can also be a major stress point, especially for K-Staters who aren't teaching in their hometowns or living with family. You can play a part in adding more student teacher scholarships to help future educators cover their living expenses. Let's equip them to truly focus on teaching instead of fretting about their finances.

Unleash innovative ideas with the mobile innovation lab

K-State Libraries is hitting the road and launching a mobile innovation lab that will bring amazing technology and creative tools to middle and high schools across the state. Using the tools of the Sunderland Foundation Innovation Lab — 3D printers, virtual reality headsets, podcasting equipment, sewing machines, laptops with the latest design and coding software, and more — young Kansans can bring new ideas to life. By improving access to emerging and advanced technologies, K-State extends its land-grant mission to every corner of the state.

Fight food insecurity with Cats’ Cupboard

Food is essential for health, success and overall well-being. That's why Cats' Cupboard is committed to enhancing food security for K-Staters.

Cats' Cupboard provides a range of perishable and nonperishable food items, hygiene products, and gently used and new kitchen supplies. This location also serves as a hub for information about wellness services available on campus and in the community, including personal financial planning, mental health support and tips for cooking nutritious, budget-friendly meals.

Accelerate hands-on learning at K-State Salina

Accelerate hands-on learning with cutting-edge co-curricular experiences at the Kansas State University Salina campus. Expand the impact of the Cybernetics Club with innovative new programming and introduce an exciting competitive robotics racing and design student organization.

Students can apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios by seamlessly integrating these dynamic opportunities into the degree program. These clubs become more than extracurriculars; they're an extension of the classroom, enriching education through hands-on innovation and competition.

Contribute to groundbreaking cancer research

The cure starts at Kansas State University's Johnson Cancer Research Center, where faculty and students engage in cutting-edge basic and translational cancer research, driving advancements in prevention, diagnostics and treatments.

Your gift directly contributes to groundbreaking cancer research that can lead to life-saving discoveries and improved treatments. It also provides scholarships and fellowships, enriches the student experience, and informs the public about cancer and cancer research.

Empower student organizations

Student organizations at K-State are essential to connecting students with opportunities that match their interests and academic goals. These groups create a sense of community, develop leadership skills, and offer unforgettable experiences that allow students to grow both personally and professionally. Help ensure that these opportunities remain an important part of the student experience.
