Career Center Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

Policy Overview

The Career Center at Kansas State University is committed to providing exceptional services for K-State students and alumni, as well as employers seeking to hire them.

Privacy Issues

K-State students and alumni have the option to create a Handshake account for job/internship searching. Employers can use Handshake to search for potential applicants, post jobs, register for career fairs and manage on-campus interviews. By activating their Handshake account, all users consent to having their information – including their profile or other personal information in Handshake – made available to others as described in Handshake's privacy policy and terms of service. Additionally, some alumni post-graduation data is shared within academic and administrative units of Kansas State University for university reporting purposes.

Job Posting Disclaimer

The Career Center attempts to check the validity and accuracy of job listings. But because situations change rapidly in the marketplace, we do not and cannot guarantee that openings listed through the Career Center will still exist, as posted, at the time of inquiry. The Career Center makes no representation or guarantee about positions listed and neither the Career Center nor Kansas State University is responsible for safety, wages, working conditions or other aspects of employment. It is the individual's responsibility to thoroughly research the integrity of each organization to which he or she is applying. Students and alumni should take all care and use common sense and caution when applying for or accepting any position. Do not disclose social security numbers, credit card information or bank account numbers to unknown individuals. Please contact the Career Center or K-State's Office of Student Life if you have any concerns or questions about a particular job listing or employer.

Individual Conduct

All students, alumni and employers using Career Center services are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner throughout their job/candidate search process. This means providing truthful and accurate information throughout the process, including information provided in your Handshake account. Students who provide false information to any university official or office are in violation of the Student Code of Conduct at Kansas State University. Misconduct or misuse of Career Center services may result in the filing of a student conduct complaint and/or discontinuation of access to Career Center services. Alumni who misuse Career Center services may have their access discontinued.

The Career Center is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). As a NACE member, the Career Center supports and affirms the association's Principles of Conduct for Ethical Professional Practice. Employers providing false information or not complying with K-State's non-discrimination policy will be denied access and continued use of Career Center services, and the Career Center reserves the right to discontinue access for any employer at any time. Additional policies for employers are posted on our website.
