Bachelor's Degree in Addiction Counseling

B.A and B.S. in addiction counseling

Grounded in real-world practice, K-State’s addiction counseling program prepares students to empower vulnerable communities and change the lives of individuals and families living with addictions. Students with a bachelor’s degree in addiction counseling will be qualified to assess substance use and provide therapeutic interventions to individuals, families, and groups within addiction treatment facilities, outpatient addiction programs, state drug courts, correctional facilities, mental health centers and private practices.

 

The K-State difference

The addiction counseling curriculum at K-State fulfills coursework licensure requirements for students to sit for the licensing exam to be a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in the state of Kansas. Possessing this license means that you have the necessary credentials to be hired as an addiction counselor at any Kansas addiction counseling treatment facility.

K-State addiction counseling students can complete their Person-Centered Case Management certification training and receive the professional certificate prior to graduating.
