ADV 102: New KAAT Class Series
ADV 102 is a workshop-style class series designed for new advisors to review student scenarios and develop best practices. This cohort model allows for new advisors to learn and grow together in the profession. Topics are intended to increase knowledge in areas outlined in the K-State advising vision, mission, and expectations, and tie in the NACADA Core Competencies. The expectation of Kansas State University is that all new advisors complete ADV 102. Credit will be awarded in HRIS upon completion.
Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate ability to address university policies and procedures with students.
- Proficient in key advising systems and platforms.
- Accurately document student interactions in Navigate.
- Match student needs with student resources.
- Understand NACADA foundations.
- Engage proactively at key touchpoints during academic term.
- Learn from advisors across the university through mentorship.
The target audience is new advisors, new-to-K-State advisors, and continuing and seasoned advisors wanting a refresher on foundational topics.
