ADV 101: New KAAT Canvas Course

ADV 101 is a self-paced online training program which provides new academic advisors with university-level advising information. The modules cover foundational material to aid advisors as they get started with K-State. The expectation of Kansas State University is that all new advisors complete ADV 101. Credit will be awarded in HRIS upon completion.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe K-State's advising structure.
  • Locate university policies and procedures.
  • Interpret FERPA guidelines.
  • Recognize use for key advising systems and platforms.
  • Identify student resources.
  • Express characteristics and needs of specific student populations

The target audience for ADV 101 is new advisors, new-to-K-State advisors, faculty mentors, seasoned advisors and other student support staff.
