Academic Warning Support
Being placed on academic warning can feel scary but the Academic Achievement Center is here to help! Academic warning is an academic standing placed on student records at the end of each semester. If you see this standing with your semester grades, it means that you are below the GPA required to stay in good academic standing and it's a serious indicator that you may be dismissed from the university if your GPA remains low.
Many students have had academic warning assigned and have been able to move forward successfully with a little help from the Academic Achievement Center!
Here are a few basic strategies a student can use to help themselves off warning.
-
Clean your transcript
-
Consider retaking a course in whichyou received a D or F as a way to increase your GPA and get off warning. A "C" or higher grade will substitute your previous substandard grade. If you have to drop a class, drop before the "W" deadline, usually the fourth week for 16-week courses.

-
Evaluate commitments
-
- Reducing your commitments to clubs, outside activities, etc. can give you more time to focus on each course, especially if you have work and/or family obligations. Remember, you cannot be part of clubs and other university acitivies if you are not a student.
