Core idea 4
Being a father is forever
Once you become a father, you are a part of your child’s life forever. You don’t stop being a father even if you are absent from your child’s life. You don’t stop being a father if the child calls another man “father.” You don’t stop being a father when your child reaches adulthood. There is a natural bond there that transcends time and place.

What a huge responsibility this is! You may turn your back on your child and leave. You may be cruel or indifferent. Your child might even be “better off” without you. You can fracture the relationship by what you do or don’t do. But the connection will always be there because you are the man who shares responsibility for bringing the child into the world.
