Right Now
Manhattan and many of us personally lost a good friend on November 9 when Jan Garton took her own life. It is with great sorrow and loving memory of Jan that we remind each and every one of us to pause in this busy life to take care of ourselves. The essence of nonviolence is finding or creating a "third way" between extremes like total bliss and total despair. If you are troubled or if you are in trouble, let a fellow human being help you find some help. Look for a SafeZone sign; call a friend, a therapist a medical doctor, the Women's Center, a pastor. There are alternatives that one set of eyes simply cannot always see.
We will miss Jan's friendship, her love of this world and her willingness to step up to make life better.
