SAFE Zone Advanced Workshop with Center for Advocacy Response and Education April 11

Submitted by Brandon Haddock

SAFE Zone, in the Department of Diversity and Multicultural Student Affairs, invites anyone to participate in the SAFE Zone Advanced Workshop with the Center for Advocacy Response and Education. "Take Back the Night: The History and Legacy of Sexual Assault Awareness Month" will be from 11:30-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, via Zoom.

The goal of this presentation is to provide participants with a broad understanding of the historical development and trajectory of the Sexual Assault Awareness Month movement. There will be particular emphasis placed on the intersections of race and sexual violence awareness activism and on the role of women of color who led the movement. Participants will learn about how the movement is recognized today and about contemporary challenges in sexual assault awareness and response.

Register online for the April 11 Advanced Safe Zone Workshop.

SAFE Zone continues to be part of Kansas State University's efforts to create an open and affirming campus. SAFE Zone provides a comprehensive and ever-evolving effort to fit the needs of current K-State community members. Allies acknowledge a variety of backgrounds and identities while teaching about navigating exclusionary acts like intimidation, micro and macro aggressions, discrimination, LGBTQ-related concerns and sexual violence.
