Advisor Forum presents April Charlie Award

Submitted by Kathy Huser

The K-State Advisor Forum announces Fred Hasler, academic advisor and professor of architectural engineering and construction science, has been selected for the April Charlie Award.

Hasler was nominated for the award by four of his advisees because of "his friendly, positive attitude and energy."

Hasler's first nominator wrote, "He is an excellent advisor. He gives very clear and helpful advice and is always willing to help develop your schedule. His door is always open for any questions about classes, work or even life in general."

Another nominator wrote, "He has connected me with many professionals, especially in the lighting industry, and has helped me recognize the importance of being involved within the College of Engineering. If the purpose of academic advising is to promote and guide students to help them achieve their personal and professional goals, then Fred has achieved the purpose time and time again throughout my college career."

Ray Buyle, department head for architectural engineering and construction science, added the following remarks when he learned of Hasler's nomination.

"As an advisor, Fred Hasler is not only committed to the success of his advisees academically but makes himself available to all of our architectural engineering students for career and internship advice. Fred has been responsible for our incoming student advising for many years. Through these efforts, he has helped our new students navigate the transition from high school or junior college to K-State.

" ... Hasler serves a very important role as an academic advisor in the ARE/CNS curriculum. He provides excellent guidance, direction, and advice to his advisees regarding both their academic course selection and professional direction. He is also a resource to the faculty in the department on issues associated with the ARE curriculum. We value his contributions and recognize that he makes K-State a better place to both be a student and a faculty member."

The Advisor Forum thanks Hasler for the work he has done and congratulates him on this award.
