Finalists announced for dean of College of Architecture, Planning & Design

The search committee for the dean of the College of Architecture, Planning & Design announces three finalists who will interview for the position and invites you to attend the open forums presented by each candidate.  

  • Kern Maass, professor and dean of the College of Music and Media at Loyola University New Orleans, will interview Feb. 8-10. The open forum will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 in Regnier Forum, Regnier Hall. A reception will follow from 4:30-5:15 p.m. in the atrium of Regnier Hall.
  • James Doerfler, visiting assistant professor in architecture at Auburn University, will interview Feb. 12-14. The open forum will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 in Regnier Forum, Regnier Hall. A reception will follow from 4:30-5:15 p.m. in the atrium of Regnier Hall.
  • Michael McClure, professor and interim dean of the College of Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, will interview Feb. 13-15. The open forum will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 in Regnier Forum, Regnier Hall. A reception will follow from 4:30-5:15 p.m. in the atrium of Regnier Hall. 

K-Staters are encouraged to review the application materials and attend each open forum and Q&A session titled, "Leading the College of Architecture, Planning & Design in a Time of Change: Opportunities and Challenges." 

An itinerary and application materials for each candidate are available on the provost's search website. Please be prepared to enter your K-State eID and password to access the information. For those unable to attend in person, the open forums will be streamed live and archived on the provost's search website.  

An online candidate feedback survey is also available on the search website. Each feedback survey will close at 5 p.m. two days following each candidate's open forum, and the presentation will be removed from the website at that time.  

Oral or written feedback on the candidates may also be directed to members of the search committee. Please provide feedback no later than Thursday, Feb. 16.
