Student Senate weekly update

Submitted by Blake Phillips

Good morning, Wildcats!

Student Senate met on Thursday, Sept. 23, in the Wildcat Chamber. During the meeting, Student Senate voted to approve members of the Student Tribunal, Student Review Board and the Tuition and Fees Strategies Committee. Student Tribunal and Student Review Board members will begin hearing student cases, while Tuition and Fees Strategies Members will begin reviewing the fees for the College of Business Administration and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Student Senate also broke into College Caucus Time for the first time this semester to brainstorm ideas for college-specific outreach efforts. Upon return, Student Senate unanimously approved a bill to continue offering a hybrid modality for Student Senate into the future.

Finally, Student Senate introduced two bills to allocate travel funding to the Agricultural Education Club and the College of Agriculture Ambassadors, and a bill to remove faculty/administrator student senate positions from the student senate body due to good communication with administrators. If you are a student organization interested in requesting travel funds or on-campus event funds, please contact Jakob Long at jakobl@k-state.edu for travel, or Durga Jambunathan at durgajam@k-state.edu for on-campus events.

Student Senate will reconvene at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, in the Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. All are welcome to attend in person or can watch live on YouTube at the K-State SGA YouTube channel.
