University Honors Program to host guest lecture on ancient medicine

Submitted by Sara Luly

The University Honors Program invites students, faculty and staff to a guest talk by Molly Jones-Lewis, lecturer in the ancient studies department at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Jones-Lewis will present, "Everything You've Been Told About the Hippocratic Oath is Wrong (Mostly)," from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 on Zoom. If you are interested in attending please email srluly@k-state.edu for the Zoom link.

Jones-Lewis' research and teaching interests include ancient medicine, Roman law and construction of identity in the Roman world. In this interactive talk, she will dispel myths about the Hippocratic Oath by discussing the history of the text and explore how it relates — and doesn't relate — to medical practice in the ancient world.

This talk is sponsored by the University Honors Program. All are welcome to attend.
