For your health: What to do before returning to campuses for the spring semester

Submitted by Lafene Health Center

As Kansas State University students prepare for the spring 2021 semester, know how to reduce the risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19 before returning to campuses. Use the Every Wildcat a Wellcat returning to K-State checklist and check the spring 2021 digest website and start planning now.

Lafene Health Center offers the following tips to prepare for returning to campuses:

  • Be sure to monitor your health and do not return if you are experiencing symptoms. You should not come to campus if you are sick, have a temperature over 100.4 degrees F, or have other illness symptoms of COVID-19

  • Continue wearing a face covering, physical distancing and washing hands. This is particularly important during the 10 days before returning to your campus community — and remember to continue these practices every day once you have arrived.

  • Students traveling from high-risk areas must self-quarantine for 10 days. Avoid participating in activities that can put you at higher risk for COVID-19, including attending large social or mass gatherings and being in crowded places.

  • Students are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 before traveling back to a K-State campus. If in Kansas, check gogettested.com/kansas to find a COVID-19 testing location and schedule a free test, or contact your county health department or health care provider about testing.

  • Students are encouraged to take a COVID-19 test three to five days after they return to their campus community and to reduce nonessential activities for a full seven days after travel, even if they test negative. If students decide to not get tested, they should reduce nonessential activities for 10 days after travel.

  • On the Manhattan campus, symptomatic and asymptomatic testing are available at Lafene Health Center at no cost to students, faculty and staff. On the Polytechnic campus, symptomatic and asymptomatic testing are available at Lafene at Polytechnic. If you are symptomatic or have been identified as a close contact, please call 785-532-6544 to schedule an appointment for testing. If you have no symptoms and have not been identified as a close contact, you can schedule an appointment on the myLafene+ patient portal or by calling Lafene Health Center.
