Know your status before you leave for fall and winter breaks

Submitted by Lafene Health Center

Kansas State University is encouraging students to be tested for COVID-19 before leaving for fall and winter breaks to reduce the chances of infecting family and community members.

Students will need to take action in the weeks before fall and winter breaks if they want to effectively reduce the possibility of bringing the coronavirus with them. Students should wear face coverings and quarantine as much as possible in the two weeks before leaving for fall and winter breaks. They should also minimize interactions with others and avoid large gatherings to curtail the potential spread of COVID-19.

Appointments for COVID-19 testing for individuals who are asymptomatic — they have no symptoms for COVID-19 — can be scheduled at Lafene Health Center through their myLafene+ patient portal or by calling 785-532-6544. Students should plan to be tested at least three days before their planned departures to allow for test delivery and processing times.

Students who have COVID-19 symptoms or have been identified as a close contact of a person who tested positive for COVID-19 should call Lafene Health Center at 785-532-6544 to schedule a test. Students do not need to be retested if they tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days.
