Former Kansas Sen. Greg Smith presents safety awareness seminar

Submitted by Olivia Rogers

Join the College Republicans, a registered student organization, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 22, in 1078 Business Building for a personal safety training. All are welcome.

Greg Smith is a former state senator, law enforcement officer and teacher. He and his wife, Missey, have traveled the nation speaking about personal safety since 2007, after the abduction and murder of their 18-year-old daughter, Kelsey.

They drafted and promoted the Kelsey Smith Act, which has been passed in 24 states and works to protect those who have been abducted.

The Smiths have worked tirelessly to teach others how to stay safe. They're extremely knowledgeable about everything from what law enforcement can do to what you should do in a dangerous situation. To find out more about their story and the work they do, visit their website, kelseysarmy.org

Come to learn how to protect yourself, become more aware of your surroundings and stay safe.
