College of Arts and Sciences recognizes 2019 USS employees of the year
The College of Arts and Sciences recently awarded and recognized Karen Solt, Regina Crowell, and Melinda Bainter as the 2019 university support staff employees of the year.
These individuals were nominated by an individual in their department and selected for their outstanding merit by a collegewide review committee. Individuals selected for this award must demonstrate exemplary contributions to their department and the College of Arts and Sciences, furthering the mission of the university.
Karen Solt, office specialist II in the college dean's office, is recognized for her ability to "unfailingly go above and beyond to make sure the needs of all students and departments are met." Her nominee also recognized that Solt's "dedication, kindness and charm are hard to find and that she is key in making the college operate." Solt will be recognized as the Arts and Sciences Employee of the Year at the USS Award Recognition Ceremony in April.
Regina Crowell, office specialist II in the department of psychological sciences, is recognized for her "willingness to do whatever is necessary coupled with a tenacity in pursuing goals." Crowell "supports the educational mission of the department, handles faculty and student submissions of purchase orders and travel requests to the Shared Service Center, interfaces with facilities and IT, and pitches in to prepare offices and labs for future occupation." As her nominee states, "the department would collapse without her."
Melinda Bainter, office specialist II in the biochemistry and molecular biophysics department, is recognized for her professional attitude, commitment, competence and performance. The department experienced the departure of two administrative support staff in 2018 and a quick transition to the college Shared Service Center. As her nominee states, Bainter "met that unexpected challenge with enthusiasm, understanding and patience." In addition, her nominee describes her as "an excellent, dependable, conscientious employee, of great value to the biochemistry and molecular biophysics office."
