Fulbright information sessions today

Submitted by Kali Poenitske

Lee Rivers, from the Institute of International Education, will share information about the Fulbright U.S. Student Grant at 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in 127 Leadership Studies Building.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Grant funds an academic year of international experience for U.S. citizens, and is open to graduating seniors, recent alumni and graduate students. With more than 1,900 awards available, the Fulbright is a terrific opportunity to study, conduct research or work as an English teaching assistant in one of more than 160 different countries.

Rivers is a K-State alumnus and currently the assistant manager for outreach and special projects for Institute of International Education. Both sessions will cover the basics of the program including the purpose of the Fulbright, the range of opportunities available and how to create a strong application. The 2:30 p.m. presentation will focus on English teaching assistantship opportunities, and the 3:30 p.m. presentation will focus on study and research opportunities, including the possibility of earning a one-year master's degree abroad.

The K-State campus deadline for the Fulbright U.S. Student Grant is Aug. 30. Interested students who are unable to attend one of the sessions are encouraged to contact Jim Hohenbary, director of nationally competitive scholarships, at jimlth@k-state.edu
