Office of Pre-Law Advising hosts Washburn University School of Law's David Pierce

Submitted by Olivia Haney

The Office of Pre-Law Advising will host David Pierce, professor at Washburn University School of Law, from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in 209 K-State Student Union.

Pierce, a nationally recognized expert on oil and gas law, will discuss his legal practice from the rural setting to working for Shell Oil Company in Houston. Pierce will touch on land use issues, hydraulic fracturing, induced seismicity, and other contemporary issues lawyers encounter while representing farmers, landowners and developers.

Pierce began his legal career as a solo general practitioner in Neodesha and city attorney for Cherryvale. He then worked in-house for Shell Oil Company in Houston and of counsel for the Gable and Gotwals law firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the Shughart Thomson and Kilroy law firm in Kansas City, Missouri.

Pierce currently teaches Oil and Gas Law, Advanced Oil and Gas Law, Energy Regulation, and Drafting Contracts and Conveyances at Washburn School of Law.

All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend this event.
