Alternative Breaks applications available for spring break

Submitted by Hannah Schauf

Winter Break Alternative Breaks team alongside staff at Hope Faith Ministries in Kansas City.

Alternative Breaks is an opportunity for students to participate in a service-learning experience during their winter, spring and weekend breaks. Participants travel to communities around the country where they work with local residents and nonprofits to address a pressing social issue. Teams will perform a variety of tasks throughout their trips that range from cleaning, building, and working directly with the clients.

Breaks are open to K-State graduate, undergraduate and international students. Students who want to join the spring break teams should apply by Feb. 2. Application will be followed by a laid back interview and then placement on a team. Participants will be required to attend three pre-trip meetings and one post-trip meeting.
