Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro at McCain on Oct. 16

Submitted by Maddie Salerno

International sensation Jake Shimabukuro, who has been called the "Jimi Hendrix of the ukulele," will perform at Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, as a part of the McCain Performance Series.

Renowned for his lightning-fast fingers and revolutionary playing techniques, Shimabukuro views the ukulele as an "untapped source of music with unlimited potential." With his repertoire of jazz, blues, classical, bluegrass, folk, flamenco and rock music, he shows how the ukulele is capable of much more than traditional Hawaiian music and corny showbiz routines.

Tickets are available at the McCain Auditorium box office, online at k-state.edu/mccain, or by calling 785-532-6428. All Kansas State University students and kids 18 and under are half-price. Other discounts are available for seniors, military, university faculty and staff, and for groups of 10 or more.
