Kansas State University’s "Get the Scoop on Summer" marketing campaign earned two awards from national associations this fall.

The North American Association of Summer Sessions awarded K-State with its highest recognition, the Creative and Innovative Award for Marketing — Overall Plan. The award was presented at the association's annual conference Nov. 8-11 in Montreal, Canada.

The University Professional and Continuing Education Association also recognized the summer campaign with a silver marketing award in the mixed media campaign category. K-State received the award at the association's Marketing and Enrollment Management Seminar Nov. 3-6 in Denver, Colorado.

"Getting out the message to the K-State student body about the advantages and opportunities through summer offerings is critical," said Sue Maes, dean of K-State Global Campus. "This year, we launched a comprehensive marketing plan to increase summer enrollments, help students progress toward graduation and keep them more engaged during summer months. I'm proud that these organizations have recognized the campaign and efforts with top marketing awards."

The associations acknowledged K-State's strategy in utilizing campus culture, identity and unique characteristics, including the university's famous Call Hall ice cream, to create a well-rounded marketing campaign. Communications and events in the campaign appealed to students and encouraged collaboration among campus offices to cross-promote summer resources and information.

"We planned and launched a full marketing campaign for summer at K-State in seven months, working closely with the university's Division of Communications and Marketing and the Summer School Task Force," said Jo Maseberg-Tomlinson, coordinator for summer, evening college and intersession at K-State Global Campus. "To have received these awards for our first year's efforts is such an honor. We stayed true to our roots, and it truly was a team effort."
