Undergrads interested in sales careers have several opportunities next week

Submitted by Brent Fritzemeier

The National Strategic Selling Institute is sponsoring three events next week that will provide great networking and experience for undergrads from all majors who are interested in a career in sales.

The National Strategic Selling Institute Corporate Partner Networking Event is from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, third floor of Calvin Hall.

Students will have a chance to mingle with top recruiters and further develop their networking skills. These companies are very interested in hiring K-State students for lucrative sales positions, so now is a good time to start developing those strong connections. All undergraduate majors are welcome, you may attend all or part as your schedule allows. Preregistration and business professional dress are required.

The National Strategic Selling Institute Edward Jones Sales Competition is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in the Calvin Hall Sales labs on the third floor.

In the competition, students take on the role of an Edward Jones financial advisor. Each contestant will have 10 minutes to meet with the prospect and convince him or her to consider Edward Jones for his or her financial needs. Four winners will receive $500, with two runners-up also taking home $250. Competing in this event also will provide consideration for the K-State Sales Cat team. Students can choose their 30-minute competition time to fit with their schedule. It's a great way to develop sales skills and get the attention of employers. Business professional dress and preregistration are required.

The National Strategic Selling Institute Sales Career Fair is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, on the third floor of Calvin Hall.

Students can explore companies hiring to fill sales and marketing positions, including Frito Lay, Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Ethos Group, Textron Aviation, Prudential, Victaulic, Security Benefit, Waddell & Reed, Woody Financial Group, Hormel, C.H. Robinson, Federated Insurance, Enterprise Bank & Trust, GTM and Randstad. Make sure to bring resumes, and business professional dress is required. All K-State undergraduate majors are welcome.
