Hands-on iPad classes offered in September

Submitted by Kayla Savage

UFM Community Learning Center and Wamego Technology Center have teamed up to offer hands-on, iPad classes for the public.

Two classes will be offered in September:

  • Why Do I Need an iPad is from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, for $19; and
  • Get Organized, Informed, and Entertained with iPad is from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, for $19.

Both classes will be at the Wamego Technology Center, inside Wamego High School and are taught by Mary Hammel, associate director of the Catalyst Technology, Media and Creative Services Center in the College of Education. Hammel enjoys sharing tools, new gadgets and helpful apps during the iPad Users Group at K-State.

"I encourage anyone interested in purchasing an iPad or wanting to learn a few tips to jump-start their iPad productivity to attend these sessions," Hammel said. "You'll be able to see how the iPad can change the way you approach your everyday activities — whether you use it to schedule and plan activities, communicate with others, take photos or videos, consume media, or produce and work with documents and projects. For almost any type of activity, there's an app for that."

Participants are welcome to bring their personal iPad to the class, but the Wamego Technology Center offers iPads for participants to use during class. Volunteers from the center also will be available for personal assistance during class.

Registration is open for both classes through UFM Community Learning Center website or via phone at 785-539-8763.
