Writing Center

Bring your laptop, your favorite mug, your lucky pencil, and join us at the Writing Center for an afternoon of productivity!

During this open session from 2-4 p.m. Friday April 19, in Room 122D of the English and Counseling Services Building, attendees can work on any writing project. We will provide a quiet space, light refreshments and a supportive community of fellow writers.

The English Department Writing Center is also open and scheduling appointments for student writers for the rest of the spring 2024 semester.

The center offers three kinds of sessions:

  • In-person sessions: Student writers can make appointments to meet with a writing consultant for 30 minutes on the Writing Center’s "Face-to-Face" schedule. Sessions run Mondays and Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Writing Center, as well as Mondays and Tuesdays 5-7 p.m. in Hale Library.
  • Asynchronous eTutoring Sessions: The Writing Center's "Get Written Feedback" schedule allows student writers to submit their writing and receive written feedback from a writing consultant within 48 hours. Sessions are scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so that feedback can be delivered to writers within the school week. Consultants will respond to issues of clarity, organization and development of content.
  • Online Video Sessions: The center's Friday morning "Live Video Tutoring" schedule allows student writers with the technology to support video conferencing (computer with camera and speaker/microphone) to upload their document and meet with a writing consultant online in a 30-45 minute video chat.

Spring tutoring sessions will run through the last day of classes for the spring term, Friday May 3.

All writing tutoring sessions are by appointment and can be scheduled through the English Department Writing Center website

The Writing Center is sponsored by the department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences.
