Basys introduces new branded lounge in the College of Business Administration

Submitted by Ruthie Gergeni

In collaboration with Kansas State University and the National Strategic Selling Institute, Basys is set to unveil a state-of-the-art branded lounge on the Manhattan campus for students in the Professional Strategic Selling Program in the College of Business Administration.

Joint K-State and Basys teams will host a ribbon-cutting event and open house on Tuesday, Sept. 19. The ribbon-cutting is at 1 p.m., followed by an open house until 4 p.m. at the National Strategic Selling Institute, 2121 College of Business Administration, 1301 Lovers Lane. Students and attendees can mingle with the Basys sales team and explore the new lounge.

Originating from Lenexa, Basys specializes in integrated payment solutions and software development while delivering an industry-leading service model. The alliance with the institute aims to foster collaboration and offer students a gateway to careers in sales with Basys.

The initiative is led by Dawn Deeter, director of the National Strategic Selling Institute at K-State, and Jeremy Duane, Basys' director of inside sales. They sought to reimagine traditional corporate partnership spaces within the business school.

"Our vision is to bring a piece of Basys' award-winning 'Coolest Office in Kansas City' headquarters to K-State," Duane said. "Instead of just another competition space, we envision a unique student prep area where relationships can develop and partnerships can be formed."

The revamped lounge will feature modern seating, innovative whiteboard tables and wall graphics that mirror the design of Basys' headquarters. For more information about Basys, visit basyspro.com/about-us/.

The National Strategic Selling Institute is in the College of Business Administration. The program consists of students who are enrolled in the certificate or major in professional strategic selling. In fall 2018, Kansas State University became just the 19th university in the U.S. to offer a major in professional strategic selling. Students can also earn a certificate in professional strategic selling, which is open to all majors at the university. This program introduces students to the fundamentals of sales, and the innovative curriculum and sales labs allow students to develop the skills needed to be successful in their careers.
