Bahadori to present at radiological protection workshop

Submitted by Amy Brox

Bahadori will be a panelist for a session of the International Commission on Radiological Protection workshop hosted by the World Nuclear Association.

Amir Bahadori, Steve Hsu Keystone research scholar and associate professor in the Alan Levin Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, will be a panelist for the "Future development in communication of risks" session of the International Commission on Radiological Protection, or ICRP, workshop hosted by the World Nuclear Association.

Bahadori was invited to participate in this workshop as a result of his work on radiation risk research and communication, particularly the development of the American Nuclear Society’s position statement on low-dose radiation effects and his involvement in various panels and webinars on these topics.

The session is scheduled for Sept. 28 in Bristol, England.

"The ICRP is currently doing what they call a systemwide review of the system of radiological protection," Bahadori said. "The last time they published revised recommendations was before 2010. Dialogue with interested and affected parties is an important part of this review."
