Submitted by Cailin Riley

As interim associate dean, Littrell will collaborate with Libraries and university leadership to implement strategic priorities and organize a permanent structure for the Libraries moving forward.

Laurel Littrell, planning and assessment librarian, has been appointed to serve as interim associate dean of research, education and engagement of K-State Libraries. Littrell's appointment is effective July 24.

"I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Laurel Littrell to her new strategic leadership role within K-State Libraries," said Joe Mocnik, dean of Libraries. "We are embarking on an exciting new chapter as we reimagine a bold future for the Libraries' wide-ranging services and work to support the university's next-gen efforts. Dr. Littrell's expertise and experience bring a much-needed continuity while elevating her ability to enact change."

As interim associate dean, Littrell will collaborate with the Libraries and university leadership to implement strategic priorities and organize a permanent structure for the Libraries moving forward.

Prior to her role as the planning and assessment librarian, Littrell served as the head of general information services and as the interim assistant dean for user services. During her time in these positions, Littrell played an instrumental role in consolidating the number of service desks, which greatly improved the department's efficiency.

Littrell, originally from the Clifton and Clyde areas of Kansas, earned both her bachelor's in music and her master's in composition from K-State. She later earned her doctorate in composition from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a master's in library science from Emporia State University. In addition to previously serving on the K-State music faculty, Littrell has served in various positions at K-State Libraries. She is the immediate past president of K-State Faculty Senate, and she recently composed the musical score "Hale! Hale! Hale!" in honor of the renovation of Hale Library.
