Join Dow Center at Hale Library for the Perspectives series

Submitted by Cailin Riley

The Perspectives series offers K-Staters an opportunity to share information and engage in civil discourse.

Join the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies at K-State Libraries for the first event of this semester's Perspectives series. The session is titled "Do You See What I See? Artists on Familiar Objects" and will take place at noon Monday, Feb. 13, in the Dow Center, second floor, Hale Library.

The Perspectives series offers K-Staters an opportunity to share information and engage in civil discourse. The goal of the series is to create an environment for ideas to be explored and respected, fostering a spirit of authenticity, curiosity and respect among peers.

Aileen June Wang, curator at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art, and Tara Coleman, programming services coordinator at the Dow Center, will lead a discussion of select artworks featured in the Beach Museum of Art's new exhibition, "Do You See What I See?" This talk will feature conversations on how art can inspire new ways to interpret familiar objects or images.

Each event is highly structured and moderated so participants can share their opinions and concerns in a place of tolerance, compromise and mutual respect. Members of the K-State community are invited to present on the theme and facilitate a conversation.

All sessions will take place in the Dow Center on the second floor of Hale Library. For more information and to stay up to date on future events, please visit the Perspectives webpage
