Bell to present 'So a Marginalized Student Walks into Your Classroom...'
Trevor Bell from the department of psychological sciences will present "So a Marginalized Student Walks into Your Classroom..." from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, via Zoom as part of the Teaching and Learning Center's Professional Development Series.
This talk aims to bring to light issues faced by historically underrepresented and excluded groups. These unique challenges do impact the student in our classroom and leave educators with one big question: How can we support these students' success in our classroom? The talk will include a review of issues these groups face, how student success is impacted and tips for showcasing your allyship to these students. Lastly, we will end with an open discussion to crowdsource techniques for supporting these students in classrooms of various styles with a variety of different teaching styles.
The events in the Professional Development Series are free and no registration is required.
