Save the date: Vice president for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging candidate open forums

Submitted by VPDEIB search committee

The search committee announces three finalists who will interview for the vice president for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging position and invites you to attend the open forums presented by each candidate.

  • MarTeze Hammonds, chief diversity officer at Purdue University Fort Wayne, will interview Thursday, Sept. 8. The open forum will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Banquet Room B and C in the K-State Alumni Center.
  • Rana Johnson, associate vice president for inclusive excellence and strategic initiatives at Indiana State University, will interview Tuesday, Sept. 13. The open forum will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Banquet Room B and C in the K-State Alumni Center.
  • Kimathi Choma, assistant dean for diversity, recruitment and retention at Kansas State University, will interview Wednesday, Sept. 14. The open forum will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Flint Hills Room in the K-State Student Union.

K-Staters are encouraged to review the application materials and attend each open forum and Q&A session. The candidates will provide a brief introduction of their career, their educational philosophy, an overview of how they will address the opportunities and challenges at Kansas State University and an analysis of the Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Belonging Strategic Plan.

Search committee co-chairs Shari Crittendon and Thomas Lane will moderate the open forums. Questions can be submitted in advance via email to Crittendon and Lane at sfcrittendon@k-state.edu or talane@k-state.edu, respectively, or asked live during each open forum.

Application materials are available on the president's search website. Please be prepared to enter your K-State eID and password to access the information. For those unable to attend in person, the open forum will be streamed live and archived on the president's search website. There will also be an online candidate feedback survey on that website. The feedback survey will close at 5 p.m. two days following the candidate's open forum and the presentation will be removed from the website at that time.

Oral or written feedback on the candidates may also be directed to members of the search committee. Please provide feedback no later than Friday, Sept. 16.
