Three College of Business faculty receive inaugural Bob Campbell Faculty Fellowship

Submitted by Zoe Abner

Kevin Gwinner, dean of Kansas State University's College of Business, recently announced the first three recipients of the Bob Campbell Faculty Fellowship: Brooke Beyer, associate professor of accounting; Sabuhi Sardarli, associate professor of finance; and Doug Walker, associate professor of marketing.

The fellowships are made possible by an estate gift from Bob Campbell, a College of Business alumni who graduated in 1950 after serving in World War II.

"Criteria for this award is based on performance excellence in the areas of teaching, research and service," Gwinner said. "These three individuals have produced outstanding records in all areas of their responsibilities."

Deloitte Director of Accounting Analytics and Innovation, Beyer received his doctorate from Oklahoma State University and began teaching at K-State in 2017. His research focuses on the relationship between financial reporting — voluntary disclosure and earnings management — and decisions made by firms' stakeholders  — i.e., investors, creditors, board of directors and employees.

Sardarli is the director of the Gates Capital Management Center for Financial Analysis. His research focuses on issues in empirical corporate finance, defined contribution retirement plans and mutual funds. He received his doctorate from the University of Florida in 2013, the same year he began teaching at K-State.

Walker received his doctorate from the University of Houston. In his research, he uses conditional process, choice and other models to investigate marketing phenomena primarily in the areas of sales, public policy and sports. Specific areas of interest include consumer socialization, antecedents and processes related to salesperson performance, and fantasy sports and sports gambling, as well as methodological issues related to research.
