Volunteers needed for blood vessel research in cancer survivors

Submitted by Britton Scheuermann

An example of a brain blood vessel image collected with ultrasound.

The clinical research team of Carl Ade, associate professor of kinesiology, is curently recruiting participants for a study investigating the health of heart and brain blood vessels in cancer survivors. Qualified participants who are over the age of 21, have been diagnosed with cancer within the past five years and do not have current brain or lung disease may be eligible to enroll.

Volunteers will be asked to attend two 90-minute visits on the third floor of Lafene Health Center. Noninvasive ultrasound images of the neck and the brain will be collected while volunteers perform a brief breathing protocol. By participating in this study, you will help researchers determine overall blood vessel function and the state of brain blood vessel health in cancer survivorship.

This study has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and received approval No. 11181.
