University Support Staff Senate representatives needed for university committees

Submitted by Monica Macfarlane

Greetings fellow university support staff employees,

The University Support Staff Senate will install executive committee officers at the next University Support Staff Senate meeting at 1 p.m. June 8 in the Flint Hills Room of the K-State Student Union and via Zoom.

One of the first responsibilities of the incoming president and executive committee will be to identify and nominate University Support Staff Senate members to serve on university committees, including those reporting to the president, provost or vice presidents. We strongly encourage you to consider serving as a university support staff senator and to serve on one or more of these committees in the upcoming academic years. These committees are an essential element of the university’s shared governance initiative.

The names of each committee, along with the number of University Support Staff Senate representatives needed, are listed below. For presidential committees and councils, the executive committee will recommend two representatives for each appointment to the appropriate office of oversight, where the final selection will be made by those who oversee the committees. The term length for each committee can vary from one to three years. Should you need further information about one or more of these committees, please contact the current chair of the committee. Their names are listed in the Committee Handbook.

If you are interested in serving on one or more of the following committees, please complete a committee interest form. We would appreciate hearing from you by Monday, June 20. Thank you for considering serving as a university support staff senator and representative on university committees. These committees are a vital component of our shared governance. We look forward to serving alongside you during the coming academic year.
