Submitted by Sue White

The K-State Gardens invite kids in grades first through third to an introduction to gardening. Five 45-minute Saturday sessions from 10-10:45 a.m. are planned this spring to spark interest, present gardening basics and have fun with hands-on activities. Sessions topics:

  1. March 26 — Plants are needy, just like people.
  2. April 9 — Worms, compost, and plant salads.
  3. April 23 — Pollinators — Bees are workers.
  4. May 7 — Make a terrarium.
  5. May 21 — Review, harvest, plant flowers.

Sessions are limited to 20 kids each. Younger children should be accompanied. Sessions are free, but donations are welcome. Registration is necessary. Call 785-532-3271 or email ksugardens@k-state.edu for questions or registration.
