Save the date: Inaugural K-State, NACADA Summer Academic Advising Institute

Submitted by Steven Dandaneau

If you're interested in academic advising, save the dates of May 22-23.

Earlier this semester, a team of K-Staters from several colleges attended a National Academic Advising Association, or NACADA, Administrator's Institute.

The K-State team — Alison Wheatley, College of Arts and Sciences; Christine Wilson, College of Agriculture; David Griffin, College of Education; Bente Janda, College of Business Administration; Kent Kerby, Division of Biology; and Steve Dandaneau, office of the provost — was so impressed by what K-State's Charlie Nutt, NACADA executive director, and his NACADA faculty colleagues presented during the institute that it was decided to create a similar experience at K-State for anyone involved or interested in current academic advising issues.

The inaugural K-State/NACADA Summer Academic Advising Institute will be May 22-23. Mark your calendars.

Thanks to the School of Leadership Studies and to the office of the provost, this two-day professional development opportunity will be in the comfortable academic space of the Leadership Studies Building. It is free of charge to as many participants who express an interest.

The planning committee, comprised of the above named K-Staters and NACADA executive director, Charlie Nutt, are at work drafting the institute's schedule of events and they welcome input — especially input from K-State's many professional and faculty advisors.  Please send ideas to Steve Dandaneau at dandaneau@k-state.edu. The planning committee will provide additional summer institute information, including a schedule and registration process, when they are available.
