SAGA hosts LGBTQ+ ally educational event

Submitted by Katie Hutson

Join the Sexuality and Gender Alliance, a registered departmental student organization, in building bridges between LGBTQ+ K-Staters and allies during our Ally Cats event at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in the Flint Hills Room of the K-State Student Union.

Ally Cats is an organized panel discussion focusing on how students, faculty and staff of K-State can become better allies to the LGBTQ+ community. The panel will feature topics such as navigation of sexuality and gender identity in the classroom, developing skills to discuss sexuality and gender identity in majority identity spaces and ways that community members can become active allies.

SAGA organizes this event as an informational outreach to the K-State community. Panelists will reflect on how allyship from peers, faculty and the campus community can help in creating an affirming environment for historically underrepresented or erased identities.
