Thursday Teaching Tip: TEVALs

Submitted by Ashley Nietfeld

The K-State Global Campus instructional designer brings you Thursday Teaching Tips through K-State Today. These tips will cover Canvas, best practices in teaching online or new topics as the community begins to discuss them.

As we near the end of the semester, today's Thursday Teaching Tip provides a reminder that a TEVAL must be set up each semester by the instructor and is their sole responsibility. Things to keep in mind:

  • There is a self-paced, online tutorial available to help you implement the process.
  • Anyone with the teacher role may survey the course.
  • You cannot combine sections into one evaluation; all courses must be evaluated separately. If you only have one student enrolled in your course, a TEVAL cannot be issued.
  • You must request a Canvas course for a 900-level course in order to have a TEVAL available to your students. All TEVALs are administered through Canvas now, so that Canvas shell must be created before the TEVAL can be accessed.
  • K-State SGA created a video to help encourage students to complete the TEVAL constructively. Please provide this video to your students.
  • Please contact Jackie Harmon at jharmon@k-state.edu or 785-532-7828 if you have further questions.

Please contact gcid@k-state.edu with comments, to schedule a consultation or to share ideas for future tips. Thank you for your interest in improving the quality of teaching at K-State.
