Required ASAP training for all new students

Submitted by Shawn Funk

Kansas State University is committed to the health and safety of all students. The university's Alcohol and Sexual Assault Prevention, or ASAP, program is using Get Inclusive: Voices for Change.

These online educational training modules help prepare college students for issues they may confront at college. They cover important topics such as students' rights and responsibilities; preventing sexual violence, dating violence, stalking, harassment and bullying; bystander intervention; substance use; and acting as allies for others in need. Students age 21 and under must complete Voices for Change — Alcohol and Consent and students 22 and over must complete Voices for Change — Consent.

The Get Inclusive: Voices for Change training is required for all new students this year and is available now. The course allows you to work at your own pace from any computer with an internet connection. This required training may be started, stopped and resumed at any time, and will take approximately 60 minutes to complete. Because of its importance, all new students are required to complete the training in its entirety. Students who do not complete the required training will be unable to register for spring classes until the training has been completed.

The content of the sexual violence education portion of Get Inclusive: Voices for Change training may be triggering for some individuals. Please direct triggering concerns and requests for alternative student training options to the K-State Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, or CARE, at 785-532-6444 or by email.

The topics covered by Get Inclusive: Voices for Change training can be sensitive and challenging to explore but are important to address in our community. Students may visit k-state.edu/asap for more information.

Students who experience technical difficulties with the training should contact Lafene Health Center at 785-532-5271.
