Office renamed to Institutional Research and Assessment

Submitted by Bin Ning

The Office of Institutional Research was initially established in October 2019 by combining the former offices of Planning and Analysis and Assessment. Starting this month, the office will be named the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, or OIRA, to better reflect the scope of work and responsibilities.

The office's Assessment of Student Learning team provides leadership, support, and coordination in assessing student learning outcomes and program review activities across the campus.

The Reporting and Analytics team in the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment is the primary unit of the university that leads the development of data reports and business intelligence tools. The office is closely involved in the development and implementation of the institutional data strategy, promoting the use of data and analytics for informed decision-making and planning, conducting research and analysis, and serving as the central clearinghouse for university-wide reporting to outside agencies.
