Last chance to register for free professional development workshop with Cia Verschelden
The Division of Student Life invites all K-State faculty and staff to join us for an interactive workshop with special guest speaker Cia Verschelden, author of "Bandwidth Recovery: Helping Students Reclaim Cognitive Resources Lost to Poverty, Racism and Social Marginalization." This virtual workshop will take place from 8:45 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 19. Space is limited, please register by midnight tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 14.
Verschelden's workshop will lead participants through the exploration of concepts covered in her book, including cognitive bandwidth, the things that take up and occupy bandwidth space for our students, how to consider those things inside and outside of the classroom, and provide resources for faculty and staff to help students regain bandwidth. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues, discuss these concepts as they present themselves at K-State, and leave with takeaways to put into practice.
If you have questions or if you are in need of accommodations, please contact the Student Life Staff Development and Engagement committee chairs, Sara Heiman at sjheiman@k-state.edu or Marcus Cottrell at cottrellm@k-state.edu.
